I am not of fan of milky drinks/ shakes. I hate the taste of milk- however, my bf secretly loves a calorie loaded, sugary, caramel shake curtesy of Maccy D’s (only on cheat days though obviously 😉 so I thought I’d make him a dairy free, refined sugar free version. And, according to him, it’s totes amaze.
I’d like to mention that although the sugar comes from the dates, and IS natural, it’s still hella sugary- were talking 16g of sugar per 24g pitted date (10 dates=160g sugar). So yes it is probably best to drink these in moderation.
10 medjool dates, pitted (has to be medjool- seriously, I tried others and they tasted crap!)
Handful of ice
400ml of water
100ml almond milk
Whack all ingredients in a blender and whizz until you can only see small bits of date flying around.
Pour through a sieve to get rid of lumpy bits and drink the smooth stuff. Yummo
